Lawrence English’s concerts have been described by Pitchfork ‘as a porous-but-crushing ambient set that felt a little like being flattened by a stack of hay bales’.
His latest full length work has been inspired by the text titled Cruel Optimism by American theorist Lauren Berlant. Drawing together his interests in the activation of the body through sound, the sonic characteristics of protest and unique approaches to harmonic distortion, he delivers his latest innately synaesthetic concert.
