The Young and Emerging Artists Grant is an annual award that aims to assist artists in the professional development of their skills, knowledge and experience in their chosen art field. Funding of up to $1,000 is available.

The grant program has been funded through RedArts events including Redlands On Stage and the monthly Art by the Boardwalk project.

The winner of the 2016 grant was young musician Georgie Taylor.

The winner of the 2017 Grant was music theatre artist Leah Lever.


Who Can Apply: The grant is open to young and emerging individual artists and performance groups who are resident in the Redlands. The grant applies to the following art forms:

  • Visual Arts, Craft and Design
  • Dance
  • Music
  • Theatre
  • Writing
  • Film
  • New Media
  • Community Arts

Eligible Artists:

  • The applicant age must be between 15 – 25 years old on the 31st December of the year of application.
  • The applicant must reside in the Redlands.
  • The applicant must be a permanent resident or Australian citizen.

Eligible Activities:

Eligible activities contributing to the development of arts skills, knowledge and experience include:

  • Courses and workshops
  • Residencies or exchanges.
  • Mentoring programs.
  • Engagement in an arts project.
